Vivianne Miedema Faces Sideline After Knee Surgery
Manchester City striker Vivianne Miedema will be sidelined following knee surgery. The extent of her absence is unclear, though the club confirmed her rehabilitation period. Miedema, who joined City in July, previously underwent minor surgery in March. Her recent injuries include an ACL rupture, excluding her from the 2023 World Cup.
Manchester City's forward, Vivianne Miedema, will spend time off the field after undergoing knee surgery, according to a club statement released on Wednesday. While the Women's Super League team did not specify her recovery timeline, it confirmed the Dutch international will begin rehabilitation soon.
Miedema, aged 28, signed with Manchester City in July on a three-year deal after leaving Arsenal as the league's all-time leading scorer. Before joining City, she had undergone minor knee surgery in March. In her five appearances for City, Miedema has netted two goals and provided one assist. She last played in the 2-0 Women's Champions League victory over Barcelona in early October.
The forward has been plagued with injuries over the past two seasons, most notably suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture in December 2022, necessitating surgery and causing her to miss the 2023 Women's World Cup.
