The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has taken a strong stand against five former Olympians by imposing a lifetime ban for their alleged attempt to set up a parallel hockey body.
PHF President Tariq Bugti accused Nasir Ali, Khalid Bashir, Saleem Nazim, Abbas Ali, and Haider Ali of trying to run a competing federation and misappropriating funds following a leadership tussle that began last year with the resignation of Brigadier (retd) Sajjad Khokar.
Bugti noted that the Pakistan Sports Board and the Federation of International Hockey (FIH) have recognized his leadership, with Shehla Reza relinquishing her claim. The PHF has revoked the former players' rights to engage with the sport in any form.
