Top-seeded tennis star Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from the Paris Masters, citing health concerns. The Italian sensation, set to conclude the year as the world's top player, announced he contracted a virus after arriving early to prepare for the event.
"I came very early here to prepare then I fell sick, I'm having a virus at the moment, which is going to pass the next two-three days, so body-wise I'm not ready to compete," Sinner explained in a message conveyed through event organizers.
Sinner's withdrawal marks the second high-profile exit following Novak Djokovic's decision to skip the final Masters 1000 event of the year. Sinner recently defeated Djokovic at the Shanghai Masters, securing his seventh season title and becoming the first man since Andy Murray in 2016 to win more than six titles in a season.
