The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Mohammad Masroor, a former first-class cricketer renowned for his fielding prowess, as the national team's fielding coach. He will accompany the team on tours to Australia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. Masroor's appointment follows his stint during the last two Tests against England, where his methods caught the eye of red ball head coach Jason Gillispie.
Masroor's coaching career includes significant experience with Pakistan's Shaheen and under-19 teams. His recent work with domestic teams and past role as an assistant to Australian coach Steve Rixon further highlight his credentials. Rixon left the position after disagreements with the PCB.
Player criticism for fielding lapses sparked the PCB's decision to secure a dedicated fielding coach. Foreign coaches Jason Gillispie and Gary Kirsten stressed this need upon their appointments. Masroor's expertise aims to elevate Pakistan's fielding standards on the international stage.
