Kane Williamson, the senior batter of New Zealand's cricket team, will be absent from the third Test against India in Mumbai. His absence is to ensure his full recovery from a groin injury before the upcoming series against England starting November 28.
Williamson missed the first two Tests against India, during which New Zealand achieved a 2-0 series lead, ending India's 18-series winning streak at home since 2012. The final Test is scheduled at the Wankhede Stadium from November 1.
While Williamson shows positive recovery signs, New Zealand's head coach Gary Stead announced in a media release that it's best for him to remain in New Zealand for the final stages of his rehabilitation to be fit for the first Test against England in Christchurch.
