Newcastle United announced on Tuesday that forward Anthony Gordon has signed a long-term contract extension, solidifying his future with the Premier League club. This move puts an end to rumors linking the 23-year-old with a transfer to Liverpool during the close-season.

Gordon, who arrived at Newcastle from Everton in January last year for approximately £45 million, expressed enthusiasm in maintaining his trajectory at St James' Park. He highlighted the club's progress since its recent takeover and praised the mutually beneficial relationship with manager Eddie Howe.

The forward, who aims to drive Newcastle towards securing a trophy, has demonstrated commitment and talent, according to Newcastle's sporting director Paul Mitchell. Gordon has contributed to the team with 15 goals and 11 assists in 74 appearances and made his England debut this year. ($1 = 0.7708 pounds)
