England's white-ball cricket captain Jos Buttler will sit out the upcoming one-day international series against the West Indies, as confirmed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Monday. Buttler is recovering from a calf injury that also kept him out of the series against Australia.

In his absence, all-rounder Liam Livingstone will take on the role of captain for the three-match ODI event, which kicks off on October 31. The ECB is yet to decide on whether a replacement player will be added to the squad.

As part of their preparation for the West Indies tour, England will incorporate two additional players from their test squad currently in Pakistan. The team is scheduled to arrive in the Caribbean next week, with Buttler joining them in Barbados ahead of the five-match T20 series starting November 9.
