Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has spoken candidly about the heartbreaking loss to Australia by six wickets in the ODI World Cup final held last November in Ahmedabad. Reflecting on the match, Shami expressed that "it was not our day," yet underscored the unwavering effort put forth by the entire team.

Speaking to ANI on the sidelines of a Eugenix hair sciences event, Shami remarked, "We should have won the final." He continued by saying, "We should not blame anyone, we cannot question anything," highlighting the collective determination demonstrated by the squad.

Shami analyzed the game from both batting and bowling perspectives, stating that the team did not hold back in their scoring attempts and put in a full effort in bowling. Despite their near-unbeaten status leading up to the match, Shami attributed the loss partly to luck in favor of their opponents, acknowledging the national support and spirit that followed the team throughout the tournament.
