Naomi Osaka announced her withdrawal from the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Spain to recuperate from injuries that have sidelined her from recent WTA tournaments. The four-time Grand Slam champion, once a major attraction for the event in Malaga scheduled from November 13-20, will now prioritize recovery ahead of the Australian Open.

Osaka suffered a back injury at the China Open earlier this month and subsequently missed the Japan Open and Pan Pacific Open. According to Kyodo News Agency, Osaka reported, 'I thought I strained my back, but I did an MRI in Beijing.' Medical examinations revealed a bulged disc and ruptured abdominal muscles, prompting her withdrawal.

After returning from a maternity break earlier this year, Osaka has faced challenges regaining form. Ranked 56th globally, she recently started training with Serena Williams' former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, after parting ways with her longtime mentor, Wim Fissette.
