India's Sarfaraz Khan showcased remarkable batting skills, celebrating his maiden Test century on the fourth day of the first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru. His stellar performance, alongside Rishabh Pant, resulted in a crucial 177-run partnership, significantly enhancing India's second innings score.

In a post-day press conference, Sarfaraz revealed the strategy he and Pant employed, drawing from their success in the Duleep Trophy. By adopting an aggressive stance reminiscent of their previous triumphs at the same venue, they aimed to effectively tackle the New Zealand bowlers. 'We both play attacking cricket,' Sarfaraz stated, emphasizing their strategic approach.

The day began under pressure for India after losing Virat Kohli for 70. However, Sarfaraz and Pant stabilized the innings, delivering a counter-attack grounded in past triumphs. Sarfaraz's 150 was pivotal in India's ascent, while Pant's near-century at 99 was equally crucial. Their partnership pushed India to a commanding total of 462, setting New Zealand a formidable target of 107.

Despite a post-tea collapse losing four quick wickets, the groundwork laid by Sarfaraz and Pant ensured India remained competitive. Concluding at 99.3 overs, India left New Zealand with a tough challenge on the final day. With resilience and strategic acumen, India aims to clinch a memorable victory. (ANI)
