Actor Gul Panag, a dedicated runner, eagerly anticipates the upcoming Delhi Half Marathon, emphasizing her enduring connection with the event. Speaking to ANI, Panag expressed her joy in participating, stating, 'It's always wonderful to run in Delhi and participate in the Delhi Half Marathon.'

Panag has been part of the marathon since its first race in 2005 and reiterated her happiness at returning once more. Known for her fitness advocacy, she highlighted the marathon's distinct route, praising it as the 'hero of the marathon.' Her enthusiasm reflects the event's broader significance as it celebrates community spirit and the allure of running through the capital's renowned streets.

As the Delhi Half Marathon 2024 draws near, it prepares to showcase some of India's premier long-distance runners. The competition boasts elite athletes, with Kavita Yadav, the reigning champion of the Indian Elite Women's Race, at the forefront. Yadav's consistent performances, including a recent second-place finish in the 10,000m at the 2023 National Open Athletics Championships, set a high competitive standard. Meanwhile, top contenders like Priti Lamba, an Asian Games bronze medalist, and Nirma Thakore ensure a heated contest among women participants.

In the men's division, the rivalry is equally intense. Kiran Matre, riding a wave of success after his TCS World 10K Bengaluru win, leads the competition. Noteworthy rivals, such as Sawan Barwal, who secured bronze in last year's event, bring formidable credentials, including a team gold at the Asian Half Marathon Championship. Kalidas Hirve, with over 100 marathons and a notable personal best, adds depth to the elite field. The race kicks off at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 20, offering a USD 260,000 prize purse.
