In a gripping encounter at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, FC Goa faced a narrow 1-2 defeat against Mumbai City FC during their Indian Super League clash. The home side, despite a determined second-half performance energized by a goal from Armando Sadiku, struggled to overturn a two-goal disadvantage set in the first half.

The evening began with FC Goa's head coach, Manolo Marquez, making strategic changes, adjusting his starting lineup from their prior draw with NorthEast United FC. This came as Jay Gupta, Rowllin Borges, Brison Fernandes, and Carl McHugh took to the field, replacing Nim Dorjee, Sahil Tavora, Ayush Chhetri, and Dejan Drazic. Goa dominated the initial exchanges, but their momentum was dented by some questionable refereeing decisions, leaving the home fans exasperated as a clear foul on Borja Herrera went unnoticed.

Mumbai City seized this opportunity in the 21st minute, as Greek forward Nikolaos Karelis skillfully headed a free-kick from Yoell Van Nieff, propelling the Islanders into the lead. A subsequent chance for Goa through Sadiku's close shot went astray, and the Islanders doubled their advantage before halftime with Van Nieff capitalizing on a defensive lapse. The Men in Orange fought back post-break, with Sadiku finally narrowing the deficit to 2-1 through a penalty, setting the scene for a thrilling finale. Despite an aggressive push, led by returning Spaniard Iker Guarrotxena and tactical switches from Marquez, Goa was unable to breach Mumbai's defenses again, ultimately succumbing to their second defeat of the season.
