The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is in the midst of substantial renovations ahead of the highly anticipated Boxing Day Test between India and Australia in December, part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. These upgrades are being executed with various major events in focus, including matches featuring Pakistan's men's team and England's women's team this summer.

Among the high-profile fixtures at this iconic venue is the inaugural ODI of the Women's Ashes series between Australia and England, set for January 14, followed by the eagerly awaited Women's Ashes Test scheduled from January 30 to February 2. Furthermore, the first ODI of the three-match series against Pakistan kicks off on November 4, which signals the commencement of cricket season action at the MCG. Just days later, a four-day match between India 'A' and Australia 'A' begins on November 7.

The centerpiece event remains the historic Boxing Day Test between India and Australia, commencing on December 26. As preparations for the cricket season progress, the MCG is removing the AFL posts and installing drop-in pitches. The stadium also serves as a venue for Australian rules football, soccer, and rugby events.

The opening Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is slated for Perth on November 22, with the second Test—showcasing the thrilling day-night format—set for December 6-10 at the Adelaide Oval. The narrative then shifts to The Gabba in Brisbane for the third Test, spanning December 14 to 18.

The traditional Boxing Day Test on December 26-30 at Melbourne's renowned MCG will bring the series near its climax, with the final Test hosted at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3 to 7, promising a dramatic finish to this eagerly anticipated competition. (ANI)
