Former Indian cricket captain and Congress leader Mohammed Azharuddin underwent questioning by the Enforcement Directorate for over nine hours in connection with alleged financial discrepancies within the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), according to informed sources.
The inquiry, conducted under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), is linked to a money laundering case involving supposed financial irregularities, reportedly targeting Azharuddin's tenure as HCA president.
The investigation stems from three FIRs filed by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau, involving misappropriated funds of Rs 20 crore, with Azharuddin maintaining the claims as baseless and a conspicuous attempt to tarnish his reputation.
