Everton's Inma Gabarro Faces ACL Injury Setback
Everton forward Inma Gabarro sustained an ACL injury during a Women's Super League home loss to Manchester United. The 21-year-old Spain international joins several other players with similar injuries. A report suggests workload, travel, and rest issues contribute to the rise in ACL injuries among women players.
Everton forward Inma Gabarro sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) knee injury during their 1-0 Women's Super League (WSL) home loss to Manchester United last weekend, the Merseyside club reported on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old Spain international, who joined Everton in the close-season, joins a growing list of WSL players sidelined due to ACL injuries. Last week, her teammate Aurora Galli suffered the same fate. Chelsea's Sam Kerr and Sophie Ingle, along with Manchester City's Jill Roord are also facing similar challenges.
According to a report by the global soccer players' union FIFPRO, factors like increased workload, travel, and insufficient rest contribute to the rise in such injuries. UEFA recently formed a women's health expert panel to better understand the prevalence of ACL injuries among female players.
