India's Under-19 cricket team showcased a commanding performance on the first day of their unofficial Test against Australia, staged here on Monday.
Highlighting the day was a sensational unbeaten fifty from the 13-year-old opener, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who smashed 81 runs off 47 balls. His electrifying performance, featuring 13 boundaries and two sixes, drove India to a promising 103 for no loss in just 14 overs.
The promising leg-spinner Mohamed Enaan from Kerala, highly regarded by cricket legend VVS Laxman, claimed three critical wickets. Karnataka pacer Samarth Nagaraj matched Enaan's intensity, also securing three wickets. Their efforts, along with contributions from seamers Aditya Rawat and Aditya Singh, plus spinner Soham Patwardhan, bundled out Australia for 293 runs in 71.4 overs.
Australia's innings saw contributions from Aidan O'Connor, Riley Kingsell, and Christian Howe, but the steady spells from the Indian bowlers limited their impact and set the tone for India's dominance.
