In a thrilling display of skill, right-handed batter KP Karthikeya scored a sparkling unbeaten 85 as India U-19 secured a seven-wicket victory over Australia U-19 in the first Youth ODI on Saturday. Skipper Mohammed Amaan also contributed significantly, scoring a commanding half-century.

Australia, batting first, managed to put 184 runs on the board in 49.4 overs, thanks in part to contributions from Steve Hogan (42) and Riley Kingsell (36). However, a middle-order collapse and a late boost from No. 10 Thomas Brown (29) made it a challenging total. India's right-arm leg-break bowler Mohamed Enaan was exceptional, taking 4 wickets for 32 runs in his 10 overs.

India's chase initially looked shaky, losing their top three batsmen for just 32 runs. However, Karthikeya and Amaan steadied the ship with an unbroken 153-run partnership, leading the hosts to victory with 14 overs to spare. Karthikeya's 99-ball innings included nine fours and two sixes, making him the key aggressor in the run chase.
