Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has been diagnosed with an injury to the abductor of his left leg, the LaLiga club announced on Monday. Courtois played the entire match in a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid on Sunday but is now expected to miss crucial upcoming fixtures.

The Belgian international, who previously stated he will not play for the national team under the current coach Domenico Tedesco, has started all 10 of Real Madrid's games this season. This follows his return from a significant anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury that sidelined him for most of last season.

Courtois rejoined the Real squad in May and played a pivotal role in their Champions League final victory against Borussia Dortmund. However, he did not participate in Belgium's Euro 2024 campaign. His current injury will see him miss Wednesday's Champions League match against Lille and Saturday's LaLiga game against Villarreal.
