Gurjot Singh, a 19-year-old forward, recently debuted for the Indian Men's Hockey Team at the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 held in Moqi, China. Singh was called up from the Junior Team while the senior team, led by Harmanpreet, competed in Paris for the Olympics. His remarkable performances during trials at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) earned him a spot.

Despite being unable to score, Gurjot played all 7 matches of the tournament, showcasing dedication and hard work. 'The atmosphere in the Senior Team is very good, all the seniors are like bigger brothers,' he said. Recounting his debut, he expressed excitement and recounted the senior players' support, especially Harmanpreet Singh, who advised him to play freely.

From his early days at the Roundglass Hockey Academy to representing India in events like the Sultan of Johor Cup and the FIH Hockey5s World Cup, Gurjot has steadily climbed the ranks. Reflecting on his experience, he noted it was a dream debut, lauding the team's title win but acknowledged areas for personal improvement such as movement in the circle and speed. As future competitions loom, his focus returns to the Junior Team.
