Kamala Harris' Record-Breaking Weekend Raises $55 Million
Kamala Harris' presidential campaign raised $55 million over the weekend through two successful fundraising events in San Francisco and Los Angeles. The events featured performances from renowned artists and speeches from political figures. Harris emphasized her economic policies and positioned herself as both a capitalist and the race’s underdog.
Kamala Harris' U.S. presidential campaign raised an impressive $55 million over the weekend during two high-profile events, according to a campaign official. The Democratic candidate and current U.S. vice president amassed $27 million at a San Francisco event held at the Palace of Fine Arts, which featured a performance by Andra Day and a speech by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Harris then continued her fundraising streak, garnering another $28 million at a downtown Los Angeles event, highlighted by performances from Alanis Morissette and Halle Bailey. Celebrities such as Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, and Jessica Alba were also in attendance.
At both gatherings, Harris emphasized her economic policies, describing herself as a capitalist and detailing the critical nature of the upcoming election. She acknowledged her position as the underdog but expressed confidence in her victory. In August, her campaign and the Democratic Party raised a substantial $361 million, far outpacing Donald Trump's $130 million haul with the Republican Party. Polls show a tightly contested race, with some giving Harris a slight lead over Trump.
