Salvatore Schillaci, the former Italy and Juventus striker celebrated for his remarkable performance in the 1990 World Cup, has died at the age of 59, according to Inter Milan.

Schillaci spearheaded Italy to their third-place finish in the 1990 tournament, securing the Golden Boot for his six goals. His passionate goal celebrations and wide-eyed delight became iconic moments of the World Cup. He was also awarded the Golden Ball and later placed second for the 1990 Ballon d'Or, trailing behind Lothar Matthaus of West Germany.

Though Schillaci's international career was brief post-1990, his early days were spent in the lower leagues with Sicilian club Messina. He later moved to Juventus, contributing to their Coppa Italia and UEFA Cup victories. Schillaci became the first Italian to play in Japan's J.League and won the title with Jubilo Iwata before retiring in 1999.
