Indian Paralympics medallist Hokato Hotozhe Sema expressed his elation over winning a bronze medal in the recently concluded global para multi-sport event, crediting the Indian Army for his success. Hokato clinched the medal in the men's shot put F57 final.

In an interview with ANI, Hokato emphasized the role of the Indian Army in providing top-notch training and diet facilities. 'I feel blessed to be an Indian and part of the Indian Army,' Hokato said. 'The Army motivated us and ensured we lacked nothing, be it training or diet. Their support was crucial for my achievement.' Hokato was welcomed warmly upon his return by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Holding the rank of Naib Subedar in the Indian Army, Hokato urged people with disabilities to embrace their challenges as strengths. 'Do not consider your disability as a shame, but as a strength to make your country proud,' he stated. Hokato's coach, Rakesh Rawat, expressed pride in Hokato's performance and also praised the Army's support.

'I am proud of my athletes. While Soman Rana missed out on a medal, the support provided by the Army was instrumental,' Rakesh said. Hokato's best throw of 14.65 meters, his personal best, earned him the bronze, with Iran's Yashin Khosravi and Brazil's Thiago Paulino dos Santos taking gold and silver, respectively. The Indian contingent's historic campaign concluded with 29 medals, surpassing their previous best in Tokyo 2020.
