Bowling coach Morne Morkel has commended Indian players for their professionalism and expressed anticipation for assessing their strengths and weaknesses. Morkel joined the Indian team in Chennai ahead of his debut assignment against Bangladesh in a two-match Test series.

Morkel, a prominent figure in a star-studded bowling line-up during his career, has had notable encounters with Indian stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. His experience in the IPL as a player and coach has provided him with insights into various current Indian players. He is eager to use this experience to aid a team renowned for its professionalism.

"I am looking forward to a great journey with India. Connecting well with the guys is crucial, having played against and worked with some of them in the IPL. Understanding their strengths and weaknesses is the goal," Morkel said in a video posted by the BCCI. Following an underwhelming performance against Sri Lanka in ODIs, expectations are high for the upcoming Test series, beginning Thursday.

With a mix of seasoned players and young talent, Morkel aims to maintain and improve the existing system. "Winning expectations are high, and I have experienced that in my playing days. Sharing that knowledge is key. Senior players lead the charge, and our role is to support them with the right advice," Morkel added.

Under the new head coach Gautam Gambhir, Morkel succeeds Paras Mhambrey. India's squad for the 1st Test against Bangladesh includes seasoned players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, alongside emerging talents.
