Leroy Sane Returns for Bayern Munich After Groin Surgery
Leroy Sane, Bayern Munich winger, returns for the Bundesliga match against Holstein Kiel after recovering from groin surgery. Sane missed the opening two matches but featured in all five Euro 2024 games for Germany. Bayern's manager Vincent Kompany confirms Sane will be in the squad for their upcoming fixtures.
Leroy Sane, Bayern Munich's Germany winger, is set to make a comeback in this weekend's Bundesliga game against Holstein Kiel after a groin operation kept him out of the first two matches, manager Vincent Kompany confirmed on Friday.
Sane had played in all five games for Germany at Euro 2024 before undergoing surgery in July. His return is timely as Bayern begins their Champions League campaign at home against Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday.
Manager Kompany emphasized the importance of having a fully fit squad: "We have a lot of players, and we need all of them. Aside from the long-term injured, all the players are fit," he said.
Further elaborating on Sane's previous struggles, Bayern's sporting director Christoph Freund said Sane experienced a strong start last season but had to deal with persistent injuries later on. "The nice thing now is that he's pain-free. We're glad he's back and properly fit," Freund added.
As Bayern prepares to face newly promoted Kiel, Kompany shared his own experiences with promotion during his time with Burnley in England. Bayern currently stands second in the Bundesliga, level on points with leaders Heidenheim and third-placed RB Leipzig.
