Lionel Messi has been cleared to play again after a two-month recovery from an ankle injury, and Inter Miami announced that the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner will return to the lineup on Saturday when the team faces Philadelphia.

"Messi is available," said Inter Miami coach Gerardo "Tata" Martino on Friday ahead of the team's training session.

Martino did not disclose whether Messi would start or come off the bench, nor did he specify if there would be any minutes restriction.

Messi's return is expected to further bolster the club, which holds the best record in Major League Soccer. Despite Messi missing nine consecutive MLS matches and 15 games overall this season, the team has secured a playoff berth.

Messi last appeared for Inter Miami on June 1. He missed time while representing Argentina in the Copa America tournament and then due to his ankle injury.

He sustained the ankle injury on July 14 during the Copa America final while playing for Argentina. He resumed group training with Inter Miami late last month. The team's recent break for World Cup qualifying matches allowed Messi additional recovery time.

This season, Messi has scored 12 goals and provided 13 assists in 12 MLS games. Despite his limited appearances, his 13 assists rank third in MLS, and he is tied for 13th in goals.
