Odisha Launches Team Konark Suryas in Legends League Cricket

Odisha debuted in the Legends League Cricket T-20 with Team Konark Suryas Odisha, symbolizing cultural heritage and enhancing sports in the region. The launch, supported by Odisha Cricket Association and SANPRIYA Group, featured cricket stars like Irfan Pathan. Plans for further sports infrastructure expansion were also highlighted.

Odisha has made its debut in the internationally recognized Legends League Cricket T-20 with the introduction of Team Konark Suryas Odisha, owned by SANPRIYA Group. This marks a considerable milestone for the state, further establishing it as a burgeoning hub for sports in India.

Named after the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Konark Sun Temple, symbolizing the state's rich cultural heritage, the team's official launch took place in Bhubaneswar. Present at the launch, Mr. Sanjay Behera, Secretary of Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), emphasized that this will boost Odisha's sports infrastructure and provide better international-level opportunities for the youth.

Under the captaincy of Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan, the team features renowned players like Ambati Rayudu and international stars such as Ross Taylor. Mr. Sanjay Behera expressed optimism, highlighting the importance of private investment in Odisha's sports ecosystem development. SANPRIYA Group's Chairperson, Mr. Sanjeev Srivastva, also announced a Multi Sports Centre of Excellence in Bhubaneswar to nurture young talent and support the sports culture in the region.
