Indian badminton players Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand surged into the round of 16 in the women's doubles category at the ongoing Hong Kong Open 2024, after defeating Ukraine's Polina Buhrova and Yevheniia Kantemyr with scores of 21-14, 21-13 in the opening match.

However, their compatriots faced challenges. Rutaparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda were defeated in straight sets (21-11, 21-8) by Hsieh Pei-Shan and Hung En-Tzu of Chinese Taipei. In men's singles, Chirag Sen and Manav Choudhary were unable to progress beyond the qualification round.

Chirag Sen triumphed over Canada's Lai Yin Chung 21-12, 21-10, but later succumbed to Xiaodong Sheng 12-21, 21-13, 14-21. Manav Choudhary defeated Ukraine's Oleksii Titov 21-14, 21-19 only to be defeated by Chan Yin Chak 21-6, 21-10. Vaibhaav and Ashith Surya were also ousted in men's doubles by Hong Kong's Lui Chun Wai and Kuei Chun Hung 21-15, 21-9. Upcoming matches include Priyanshu Rajawat and Kiran George in men's singles, and Aakarshi Kashyap and Tanya Hemanth in women's singles.
