This season has been particularly fruitful for Chahal, who also claimed a five-wicket haul in the One Day Cup against Kent last month. In the current match, Northamptonshire batted first, posting a total of 219 runs with Saif Zib scoring 90.

Derbyshire were dismantled for 165 in 61.3 overs, thanks to Chahal's 5/45 and Rob Keogh's 3/65. However, Chahal's teammate Prithvi Shaw had a disappointing outing, managing scores of just 4 and 2 in both innings.
