India's Chef-de-Mission for the recently-concluded Paris Paralympics 2024, Satya Prakash Sangwan, praised the country's contingent for their historic performances, noting that their heroics had people proudly chanting India's name in Paris. The Indian team concluded its campaign with 29 medals, including seven gold, nine silver, and 13 bronze, the most in the country's Paralympics history.

Speaking to ANI upon arrival at the Delhi airport, Sangwan highlighted the substantial support received in Paris. 'When we departed, we pledged to win 25-30 medals and make history. We have made history at Paris,' he said. Emphasizing the robust support, he added, 'All over France, it was 'India, India.' Our performance exceeded expectations.'

Sangwan also noted that finishing 18th overall was a historic achievement. 'We aimed to finish within the top 20, and with the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government, and the Sports Authority of India, we achieved our goal,' he said. This record haul also saw India cross the 50-medal mark in Paralympics history, with a record 84 para-athletes representing the country in 12 disciplines, including new sports like paracycling, para rowing, and blind judo.
