Sports Minister Criticizes Politicization of Sports Amid Wrestler Protests

Rajasthan Sports Minister, Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, voiced his sorrow over the politicization of sports, particularly in light of wrestler Vinesh Phogat joining the Congress party.
He stressed the existence of democracy within politics and the rights of every individual. Rathore lamented the missed opportunities for Olympic medals due to the wrestlers' ongoing protests.
Tikaram Jully, the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, rebuked Rathore's remarks. He pointed out that no questions were raised when Rathore joined the BJP, emphasizing that athletes, too, are citizens with their own rights. Jully suggested Rathore should similarly welcome Phogat's decision to join the Congress.
