Sri Lanka Triumphs Over England in Historic Test Victory

Sri Lanka secured a historic test victory over England at The Oval on Monday, successfully chasing a target of 219 with ease, largely thanks to Pathum Nissanka's unbeaten 127. This marks Sri Lanka's first win in England in a decade, although they lost the series 2-1.

The victory, achieved with eight wickets remaining, was only Sri Lanka's fourth in England in four decades. Captain Dhananjaya de Silva praised the team's resilience, emphasizing the hard work of both bowlers and batters throughout the series.

Despite England's strong start, collapsing from 261-3 to 325 in their first innings allowed Sri Lanka to stay in the game. The hosts managed only 156 in their second innings, setting the stage for Sri Lanka's successful chase. England captain Ollie Pope acknowledged the team's shortcomings and commended Sri Lanka's performance.
