Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini engaged in discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior BJP officials in the capital, in anticipation of his forthcoming swearing-in as the state's governing leader following the BJP's significant electoral triumph.
Replacing Manohar Lal Khattar, Saini from the Other Backward Classes, was BJP's projected choice for the top post should they secure victory. Post-meeting, Saini credited the electoral success to Modi's policymaking, stating that contrary to predictions that favored Congress, Haryana's voter loyalty had been secured by BJP policies benefiting diverse societal segments.
As the ruling party bucking anti-incumbency managed its best-ever legislative success with 48 seats, the Congress's comeback was halted, while minor parties failed to make an impact. Aligning to strengthen BJP's hold, Independent MLAs have pledged their support for the new government, further consolidating its legislative power.
