In a historic match at The Oval on Monday, Sri Lanka claimed an eight-wicket victory over England in the third Test. This win marks Sri Lanka's first triumph in England in ten years and concludes the three-match series 2-1 in England's favor.
The highlight of the day was Pathum Nissanka's fine century, along with a commendable effort from Sri Lankan bowlers in the second innings. After winning the toss and electing to field, Sri Lanka bowled out England for 325 runs, thanks to substantial contributions from Ollie Pope and Ben Duckett.
In response, Sri Lanka managed a score of 263, with crucial performances from captain Dhananjaya de Silva and Kamindu Mendis. England's second innings saw them crumble to 156, setting a target of 219 for Sri Lanka. Nissanka's unbeaten 127 and support from Kusal Mendis and Angelo Mathews ensured Sri Lanka's momentous win.
