World number one Iga Swiatek faced an unexpected exit in the U.S. Open quarter-finals, struggling with her serve in a 6-2, 6-4 loss to Jessica Pegula. Despite a strong year, Swiatek couldn't find solutions to her serve issues at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The 2022 champion, who managed to win just over half of her first serve points and confronted eight break points, admitted her inability to correct her serve during the match. "It was hard for me to find, like, a proper solution for that," she explained.
Despite the defeat, Swiatek praised Pegula's performance, acknowledging her solid play and fewer mistakes. Swiatek, fresh off her French Open victory and an Olympic bronze, stated that she is ready to continue her season until November, unless injuries intervene.
