Mats Hummels, a former Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund star, has officially joined AS Roma, the Serie A club announced on Wednesday. The German international, who was out of contract since July, has agreed to a season-long deal reportedly worth 2.5 million euros ($2.8 million).

The 35-year-old defender brings a wealth of experience to the Italian side, having won two league titles and two German Cups with Dortmund. A 2014 World Cup winner, Hummels will don the number 15 shirt for Roma.

With his arrival, Hummels becomes the seventh German player to sign with the club. This move adds significant strength to Roma's defensive lineup for the upcoming season.
