India's para-athlete Yogesh Kathuniya clinched a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics in the Men's Discus Throw F56 final with a distance of 42.22 meters at Stade de France. This marks Kathuniya's second successive Paralympic medal following his Tokyo 2020 performance.

In a media interaction with ANI, Kathuniya discussed the immense pressure on Indian athletes post Neeraj Chopra's Olympic victory. He shared that his primary motivations are to achieve a 50-meter throw and to converse with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "The pressure sometimes feels overwhelming, but it also motivates us to strive for medals and recognition. My two key desires are reaching the 50-meter mark and talking to PM Modi. I try to win to have that one-on-one conversation," said Kathuniya.

Despite his disappointment over missing gold due to technical inconsistencies, Kathuniya remains hopeful for future success. He lauded PM Modi's contributions to sports through initiatives like the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) and the Khelo India Para Games.

India's Paralympic team has secured a growing tally of 21 medals, surpassing previous records, with notable performances from athletes like Sachin Khilari, who won silver in the men's shot put F46 final.
