Ajay Ratra, former India wicket-keeper, has been named as the latest selector of the men's cricket team by the BCCI, replacing Salil Ankola in the five-member panel.
Following convention, Ratra will represent North Zone in the committee headed by Ajit Agarkar. This change resolves the issue of dual representation from West Zone after Agarkar's appointment as chief selector last year.
The announcement precedes the two-Test series against Bangladesh starting on September 19, with Ratra beginning his duties from Thursday during the Duleep Trophy. "It is a huge honour and a challenge. I look forward to contributing to Indian cricket," Ratra said.
