Indian field hockey player Sukhjeet Singh has expressed confidence in the team's goalkeepers, Krishan Bahadur Pathak and Suraj Karkera, as they head into the Asian Champions Trophy without the legendary PR Sreejesh.

The 2024 edition of the tournament kicks off on September 8, with India being the most successful team in its history, boasting four titles. They clinched the 2023 title by defeating Malaysia 4-3 in a thrilling final. India will start their campaign against host nation China and face a series of challenging matches, including a showdown against arch-rivals Pakistan.

Sukhjeet acknowledged Sreejesh's legacy but expressed trust in the new goalkeepers. He also highlighted the team's robust preparations in Bengaluru and the seamless coordination between junior and senior players under coach Craig Fulton. He emphasized the team's determination to improve on lapses witnessed during the Paris Olympics, aiming for a strong performance and eventually aspiring for gold in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
