Jessica Pegula, Karolina Muchova, and Jack Draper all secured their spots in the U.S. Open quarter-finals with dominant straight-set victories at Flushing Meadows on Monday.
American hopeful Pegula was again efficient, sealing a 6-4, 6-2 win over Russia's Diana Shnaider on Labor Day. Pegula now awaits the winner between top seed Iga Swiatek and Liudmila Samsonova.
Sixth-seed Pegula, who recently recovered from an injury, expressed satisfaction with her game, stating it was her best performance so far. Muchova continued her impressive run, upsetting Italian fifth seed Jasmine Paolini 6-3, 6-3, and will face either Beatriz Haddad Maia or Caroline Wozniacki in the next round. Meanwhile, Britain's Jack Draper crushed Tomas Machac 6-3, 6-1, 6-2 and will face the victor in the all-Australian matchup between Alex de Minaur and Jordan Thompson.
