Marc Marquez took home the Aragon Grand Prix victory on Sunday, ending a 1,043-day wait to win a MotoGP race. The six-time MotoGP champion is relieved and hopeful that such a long drought won't happen again. Once the most dominant rider, Marquez's last victory was in October 2021, and his last title came in 2019. A broken arm in the first race of the 2020 season marked the beginning of a difficult period.

The 31-year-old underwent multiple surgeries and battled diplopia after several crashes while riding for Honda. This season, he switched to Gresini Racing and finally secured his first victory aboard a Ducati. Marquez has shown promise with podium finishes in sprints and races this season, but he was unbeatable at home, taking pole position and winning Saturday's sprint race.

'It was strange because I enjoyed some other victories more,' Marquez reflected. 'But my body didn't realize what we achieved, maybe when I arrived in the box it hit me. Now we restart counting. I hope not to reach those numbers again,' he added with a laugh. Marquez opted out of warm-ups to preserve his focus and excelled despite changing track conditions.
