Harry Kane converted a penalty and Thomas Muller scored in his club-record 710th game as Bayern Munich beat Freiburg 2-0 in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

In the 59th minute, Muller replaced new signing Michael Olise to break a club-record tie with legendary goalkeeper Sepp Maier, amassing 709 career games in all competitions for Bayern. He netted in the 78th minute, controlling a cross from Serge Gnabry to take the ball away from Freiburg's Maximilian Eggestein before slamming it home past goalkeeper Florian Müller.

'Records aren't so important for me, to be honest, instead it's that I scored a really beautiful goal,' Muller told broadcaster DAZN. 'Outstanding technique and then it goes in too, that's what's fun for me.' This marked Muller's 150th Bundesliga goal, extending his scoring streak to 16 consecutive seasons since the 2009-10 campaign.

The 34-year-old forward set a club record for the second consecutive game after recently breaking Maier's 474-game Bundesliga appearance record for Bayern.

Earlier in the match, Kane earned and converted his first Bundesliga penalty of the season, giving Bayern the lead. The referee reversed his initial decision after video review highlighted Freiburg defender Max Rosenfelder's handball.

In added time, Joao Palhinha conceded a penalty for handball, but Freiburg's Lucas Höler missed the ensuing shot, ensuring Bayern goalkeeper Vincent Kompany's first home game as coach ended without conceding a goal.

Bayern is currently among three Bundesliga teams to win their opening two games, alongside Heidenheim and Leipzig.

HEIDENHEIM ROUTS AUGSBURG ============================ Another notable Sunday match saw on-loan Bayern player Paul Wanner score from the penalty spot, leading Heidenheim to a dominating 4-0 victory over Augsburg. Wanner scored in the ninth minute following an Augsburg handball, with Léo Scienza adding to the tally in the 30th minute. Second-half goals from Adrian Beck and Maximilian Breunig solidified the win.

Heidenheim has won all five of its matches across all competitions this season. The club is participating in only its second Bundesliga season and has qualified for the Europa Conference League, where it is set to face Chelsea. However, Heidenheim's U.S. national team forward Lennard Maloney was injured shortly before halftime following a collision with Augsburg's Fredrik Jensen.
