India's Pooja Singh has made headlines by breaking the national U20 women's high jump record, securing a spot in the finals at the World Athletics U20 Championships.
Hailing from Fatehbad district in Haryana, the 17-year-old cleared 1.83m, finishing ninth in the qualification round late Thursday night. This achievement surpasses her previous record of 1.82m, set last year in Korea.
Despite early struggles, including an injury, Pooja's determination saw her winning multiple gold medals in various categories, under the guidance of coach Balwan Singh at the Parta Sports Academy.
