Napoli Signs Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea in $39M Deal

Napoli has signed Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea for a reported $39.47 million. Lukaku reunites with former manager Antonio Conte, under whom he thrived at Inter Milan. Lukaku, who hasn't featured for Chelsea since May 2022, had a successful stint at Inter, helping secure the Serie A title in 2021.

Napoli have signed Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea, the Serie A club announced on Thursday. While financial terms were not disclosed, British media reported a transfer fee of 30 million pounds ($39.47 million) for the 31-year-old.

Lukaku will reunite with manager Antonio Conte, who previously coached him at Inter Milan from 2019 to 2021. Lukaku joined Chelsea in 2021 for 97.5 million pounds but spent the last two seasons on loan in Italy with Inter and AS Roma.

The Belgian scored 24 league goals for Conte's Inter in 2021, leading them to the Serie A title. Lukaku has not played for Chelsea since May 2022. His departure coincides with Chelsea midfielder Tino Anjorin's move to Serie A side Empoli on a three-year deal. ($1 = 0.7602 pounds)
