Para triathlon events at the Paris Games, initially scheduled over two days, will now all take place on September 1 due to the weather forecast, organisers stated on Thursday.

Adverse weather conditions led to a spike in bacteria levels in the Seine, causing the reshuffling of Olympic triathlon events and training sessions. 'All 11 medal events will now occur on 1 September instead of 1 and 2 September,' Paris 2024 announced.

'The decision was made to ensure athletes and coaches have as much certainty as possible,' the statement added. Despite efforts to clean the Seine, a sewer issue last summer led to the cancellation of a pre-Olympic swimming event.

All Olympic triathlon events involving the Seine's swimming leg will continue, with contingency days set for September 2 and 3. 'Paris 2024 and World Triathlon are monitoring water quality and current flow daily,' they said. Familiarisation swims have been successful, and decisions for future events will be made in advance.
