BCCI Announces Replacements for Siraj and Malik in Upcoming Duleep Trophy

The BCCI Men's Selection Committee has named Navdeep Saini and Gaurav Yadav as replacements for Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik, who will miss the first round of the Duleep Trophy due to illness. Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has also been released from the Team B squad.

The Men's Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday named replacements for pace bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik, who are set to miss the first round of the Duleep Trophy due to illness. Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has also been released from the Team B squad.

The Duleep Trophy, heralding the start of the red-ball cricket domestic season, will feature top Indian stars and emerging talents competing at the highest level. The tournament is set to commence on September 5, 2024, in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, and M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Navdeep Saini and Gaurav Yadav will replace Siraj and Malik in the Team B and C squads, respectively.

"The Men's Selection Committee has announced a couple of replacements for the first round of the 2024-25 Duleep Trophy. Pacer Navdeep Saini will replace Mohd. Siraj in the Team B squad, while Gaurav Yadav will replace Umran Malik in the Team C squad. Both Siraj and Malik are ill and are not expected to be fit in time for their Duleep Trophy fixtures," the BCCI stated. The release added that "all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has also been released from the Team B squad."

Star Indian batters, including Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, and Shubman Gill, among others, are set to feature in the Duleep Trophy 2024-25 season. The revised squads for the first round of the tournament are:
