Novak Djokovic launched his quest for a record 25th Grand Slam title on Monday with a gritty 6-2 6-2 6-4 victory over qualifier Radu Albot in the U.S. Open's opening round. The defending champion returned to the court just three weeks after clinching the singles title at the Paris Olympics, receiving a hero's welcome from the Arthur Ashe Stadium crowd.

Despite the warm reception, Djokovic's performance was far from golden. He struggled with his serve and amassed nearly twice as many unforced errors as winners. Nevertheless, his skillset was enough to overcome Moldovan Albot in their first-ever tour meeting, marking his 78th win at Arthur Ashe under a closed roof.

Djokovic is aiming for multiple milestones in New York, including a fifth Flushing Meadows title to tie the professional era record held by Pete Sampras, Jimmy Connors, and Roger Federer. He also aspires to become the first back-to-back men's singles champion since Federer's run from 2004 to 2008.
