The Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU) on Monday announced the inaugural Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL), set to take place from September 15-22. Both men's and women's teams will compete in the event.

The competition will feature five men's teams and three women's teams vying for titles. The action will unfold in 16 matches at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, with SSPARK Sports and Entertainment organizing the league.

The league aims to offer younger players from the state an opportunity to showcase their talent and engage with seasoned top-level players. The UPL Player Draft, set for September 1 in Dehradun, will allow teams to pick one marquee player each to form their squads.

The men's teams will choose from six marquee players, including Akash Madhwal and Rajan Kumar. For the women's division, Ekta Bisht, Punam Raut, and Mansi Joshi are among the marquee players available.

Mahim Verma, secretary of CAU, expressed excitement about the inaugural league, stating that it mirrors the dynamic atmosphere of the Indian Premier League and offers a platform for accelerated development of young cricketers.
