India's 13-year-old Tanvi Patri clinched the under-15 girls singles title at the Badminton Asia U-17 & U-15 junior championships, defeating Vietnam's Thi Thu Huyen Nguyen in straight games in Chengdu, China, on Sunday.
The top-seeded Patri completed the match in just 34 minutes, securing a 22-20 21-11 victory over her second-seeded opponent in the final.
With this achievement, Patri follows in the footsteps of Samiya Imad Farooqui and Tasnim Mir, previous winners of the U-15 girls singles crown in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
Patri displayed remarkable consistency, not dropping a single game throughout her five matches in the tournament.
In the final, despite trailing 11-17, Patri capitalized on Nguyen's unforced errors to win the first game. She maintained her momentum in the second game, leading from the outset to claim the gold medal.
India ends the tournament with two medals: a gold from Patri and a bronze from Gnana Dattu TT in the U-17 boys singles event.
