The Indian Super League (ISL) has officially announced that Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) will join the league as its newest member starting from the 2024-25 season. This historic inclusion marks a significant milestone for MSC, one of India's oldest and most prestigious football clubs, as they step up to compete in Indian football's top tier.

Mohammedan SC's promotion follows their impressive performance in the 2023-24 I-League, where they secured the title with a commanding 52 points. Throughout the season, the Kolkata-based club displayed remarkable consistency, achieving 15 victories and seven draws while enduring only two defeats. Their attacking capability was evident with 44 goals scored, while their defense conceded just 22 goals.

This achievement makes Mohammedan SC the second club, after Punjab FC, to be promoted to the ISL from the I-League. With MSC's inclusion, the ISL now comprises 13 clubs, enhancing its competitive landscape and reach. Moreover, MSC's entry adds another representative from Kolkata, joining Mohun Bagan Super Giant and East Bengal FC, further enriching the city's footballing culture.

As Mohammedan SC prepares for their ISL debut, fans and analysts are eagerly anticipating how the historic club will perform against the league's elite teams. Their ascension to the ISL stands as a testament to their enduring legacy and the growing strength of Indian football, despite not qualifying for the Durand Cup knockouts.

In the Durand Cup, Mohammedan SC finished second in group B with 1 win, 1 draw, and 1 loss, earning 4 points. They lost against Bengaluru FC, won against the Indian Navy, and drew with Inter Kashi.
