Veteran driver Jon Lancaster from England and 17-year-old Jaden Rahaman Pariat from Shillong took the top spots in the Indian Racing League and Formula 4 Indian Championship races, respectively, during the opening round of the Indian Racing Festival on Saturday.

In contrast, the Hyderabad Blackbirds team faced setbacks. Driver Hugh Barter, despite leading comfortably in the F4 Indian Championship race, retired, allowing Pariat to seize the victory. Neel Jani, another Blackbirds driver, also had to retire minutes before a win in the IRL race, enabling Lancaster to clinch a dramatic win.

Ruhaan Alva from Bengaluru, racing for Shrachi Royal Bengal Tigers, managed consistent podium finishes but encountered difficulties mid-race. The upcoming rounds, including a historic night street race in Chennai, promise further excitement in this five-round festival.
